In late 1646, Queen Christina of Sweden initiated a correspondence with Descartes through a French diplomat and friend of Descartes’ named Chanut. Christina pressed Descartes on moral issues and a discussion of the absolute good. This correspondence eventually led to an invitation for Descartes to join the Queen’s court in Stockholm in February 1649. Although he had his reservations about going, Descartes finally accepted Christina’s invitation in July of that year. He arrived in Sweden in September 1649 where he was asked to rise at 5:00am to meet the Queen to discuss philosophy, contrary to his usual habit, developed at La Fleche, of sleeping in late,. His decision to go to Sweden, however, was ill-fated, for Descartes caught pneumonia and died on February 11, 1650.

Avocado oil is also often recommended as an effective treatment for acne and blackheads, eczema and other forms of skin inflammation, thanks to its high concentration of anti-inflammatory oleic acid. Just a small amount of this soothing oil tends to go a long way in relieving that persistent itching, redness, swelling and other common symptoms of eczema. When it comes to acne, the oil’s vitamin C and K helps boost the immune system, and fight acne-causing bacteria. Vitamin E helps to keep it hydrated to prevent excess oil production which further helps to battle acne.

For Aristotle, the form is not something outside the object, but rather  in the varied phenomena of sense. Real substance, or true being, is not the abstract form, but rather the  concrete individual thing. Unfortunately, Aristotle's theory of substance is not altogether consistent with itself. In the  Categories the notion of substance tends to be nominalistic (that is, substance is a concept we apply to things). In the Metaphysics , though, it frequently inclines towards realism (that is, substance has a real existence in itself). We are also struck by the apparent contradiction in his claims that science deals with universal concepts, and substance is declared to be an individual. In any case, substance is for him a merging of matter into form. The term "matter" is used by Aristotle in four overlapping senses.  First , it is the underlying structure of changes, particularly changes of growth and of decay.  Secondly , it is the potential which has implicitly the capacity to develop into reality.  Thirdly , it is a kind of stuff without specific qualities and so is indeterminate and contingent.  Fourthly , it is identical with form when it takes on a form in its actualized and final phase.

C. S. Peirce published the first full statement of pragmatism in his important works " How to Make Our Ideas Clear " (1878) and " The Fixation of Belief " (1877). [20] In "How to Make Our Ideas Clear" he proposed that a clear idea (in his study he uses concept and idea as synonymic) is defined as one, when it is apprehended such as it will be recognized wherever it is met, and no other will be mistaken for it. If it fails of this clearness, it is said to be obscure. He argued that to understand an idea clearly we should ask ourselves what difference its application would make to our evaluation of a proposed solution to the problem at hand. Pragmatism (a term he appropriated for use in this context), he defended, was a method for ascertaining the meaning of terms (as a theory of meaning). The originality of his ideas is in their rejection of what was accepted as a view and understanding of knowledge by scientists for some 250 years, . that, he pointed, knowledge was an impersonal fact. Peirce contended that we acquire knowledge as participants , not as spectators . He felt "the real" is which, sooner or later, information acquired through ideas and knowledge with the application of logical reasoning would finally result in. He also published many papers on logic in relation to ideas .
